Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀤𑀼𑀭 (dura​), from Sanskrit दूर (dūra). Cognate with Sylheti ꠖꠥꠞ (dur), Assamese দূৰ (dur), Odia ଦୂର (dura), Maithili दूर (dūr), Bhojpuri दूर (dūr), Hindustani دور / दूर (dūr), Gujarati દૂર (dūr), Punjabi ਦੂਰ (dūr).
