Etymology edit

From ไก่ (gài, fowl) +‎ กา (gaa, crow); literally "fowl [and] crow".

The first sense originated from a 1998 quiz show, Lun Laeo Ruai (ลุ้นแล้วรวย), in which the phrase จริงใจ (jing-jai, sincere; truthful) was used for "yes" and the present phrase was for "no".
