Particularly: “Apparently not mentioned by STEDT. Hill (2019) (section 208a, page 213) compares the word to Tibetan སྔོ (sngo, green), which STEDT derives from Proto-Tibeto-Burman *s-ŋow (white, green, yellow, blue). This appears phonetically sound (Hill 2019 is a treatise on finding Sino-Tibetan cognates using comparative sound laws), but semantically flies in the face of STEDT's original proposal that the Tibeto-Burman root applies mainly to "light colors" (unless "brown" here originally meant "light brown").”
