Etymology edit

Likely from Russian феникс (feniks), or else directly from a Western European language (cf. French phénix), from Latin phoenix, from Greek φοῖνιξ (phoînix).

A more direct borrowing of the Greek word existed in Old Georgian: ფჳნიქსი (pwiniksi).
