Etymology edit

From ῥέω (rhéō, to flow) +‎ (), possibly inherited from Proto-Hellenic *hrowā́, from Proto-Indo-European *srowéh₂, from the root *srew- (to flow, stream). Cognate with Lithuanian sravà, Latvian strava, and Sanskrit *स्रवा (*sravā́) in such compounds as गिरिस्रवा (girisravā).[1]
