Appeared in 数学ニ用ヰル辞ノ英和対訳字書 (Sūgaku ni Mochiiru Ji no Ei-Wa Taiyaku Jisho, “Vocabulary of mathematical terms in English and Japanese”) of 1889 as a translation of English dimension.[1][2]
