Noun edit
Balkon m (strong, genitive Balkons, plural Balkone or Balkons)
- (architecture) balcony (an accessible structure extending from a building, especially outside a window or overlooking a stage)
Usage notes edit
- The plural Balkone is always pronounced /balˈkoːnə/. Accordingly, only this plural is used by speakers who say /balˈkoːn/ in the singular. Other speakers sometimes switch to the same pronunciation in the plural. Otherwise they use the plural Balkons (pronounced like the respective singular form + /s/).
