Two main origins:
- Borrowed from French Gamet, a pet form of the personal name Gamo, which is probably based on the Proto-Germanic lemmas *gamaną (“pleasure, joy”) or *gamalaz (“old, weak”).
- Borrowed from Tagalog Gamet.
