This supposed generic superhero-derived sense failed RFV in 2010. I'm posting it here because the translations might be useful to somebody. Equinox 11:19, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation edit

Are we certain that the Turkish province is pronounced the same way as the fictional superhero, or is that just a misplaced pronunciation? — SMUconlaw (talk) 20:07, 5 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

It's certainly not pronounced the same in Turkish, but as an anglicized pronunciation it wouldn't surprise me. —Aɴɢʀ (talk) 22:22, 5 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
But not automatic. The Batman who founded Melbourne is, if I recall rightly, /ˈbætmən/ like the servant. --Hiztegilari (talk) 09:06, 8 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
If there isn't a standard English pronunciation (which seems likely, since the province is not a particularly well known one to people outside Turkey), is there any reason not to give the Turkish pronunciation? — SMUconlaw (talk) 14:48, 8 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Rfv-sense for the verb of climbing a rope freehand, I am seeing mostly lowercase usage, should this be moved to the lowercase entry? - TheDaveRoss 15:31, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

It is certainly much easier to cite in lowercase, so I have changed the main lemma to the lowercase version and made this the alternate form. I managed to find two cites, one of which is clear, and the other is a bit of a stretch, because it is not mountaineering and there are no ropes involved, but it is similar in that it involves Batman-like acrobatics. Thanks, Kiwima. I moved that ambiguous quote to the Citations page, since it isn't totally clear it matches the sense in question. - TheDaveRoss 15:38, 15 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
