In Andalucía, I've heard the word 'campo' used to mean 'house in the countryside' e.g. "estuve en mi campo", "fui al campo de mi abuelo" etc. Not sure if this warrants an additional definition or not. 81.43.117.36 17:21, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- @81.43.117.36 Because Spanish is a well-documented language, there needs to exist at least three independent instances in durably archived media (books, newspapers, film, CDs, Usenet, etc.) of the word being used (not mentioned) with that sense.
- I took a stab at it but I couldn’t find anything that unambiguously refers to a house (rather than the typical sense of countryside). — Ungoliant (falai) 22:26, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
Etymology edit
Could be short for campus police (like the po-po = police), or could be campus -o; but the latter suffix is usually Australian, so I doubt that's it for this US term. Equinox ◑ 14:53, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
