Documentation for Template:tl-IPA. [edit]
This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

This template uses Module:tl-pronunciation to change spelling to pronunciation.

Use {{tl-pr}} instead.
Use {{tl-pr}} instead of invoking this template directly. {{tl-pr}} works similarly to this template but autogenerates rhymes and hyphenation as well as pronunciation.

Parameters

edit

Normally, call this template with no parameters, and it will automatically generate the pronunciation for the page name.

NOTE: The invocation of {{tl-IPA}} should occur on a line by itself. Do not put a bullet mark (*) before it. The bullet mark is generated by the template.

|1=
Phonetic respelling of word or phrase to account for stress or glottal stops. Needed where word has stress pattern different than default, or glottal stops other than in onset (e.g. lutuin, dialectal ngay-on, which should be respelled into "lutu7in" and "ngay7on", 7 being for the glottal stop), or unassimilated loanwords or proper nouns not in phonemic spelling.
|bullets=
Number of bullet marks to place before the generated pronunciation. Defaults to 1.
|pre=
Text to place before the generated pronunciation, primarily to handle accent qualifiers.
|post=
Text to place after the generated pronunciation, primarily to handle qualifiers other than accent
