Welcome edit

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

оферта edit

Здрасти! Радвам се да видя още хора, които добавят и разширяват думи на български във Wiktionary :-)

За писането на етимологии само напомням някои от добрите практики, за които предполагам и ти знаеш:

  • обикновено поместваме отпратка към {{R:bg:BER}}, ако думата я има в етимологичния речник.
  • в някои случаи, етимологията липсва там, но я има в {{R:bg:RBE}}. Това е именно и случая с оферта (oferta), за която е упоменато:
От лат. offertus 'предложен' през нем. Offerta. — В. Свобода, 1894. [с правописна грешка - немската дума е Offerte]
  • всички такива примери на "от Х през У" съответстват на "{{bor+|bg|Y|...}}, from {{der|bg|X|...}}".
  • във вариантите на {{inh}}, {{der}} и {{bor}} първият език винаги е bg, дори и да се говори примерно за дума, заета от немски, която на свой ред е заета от френски и т.н. Ти беше написал/а {{der|it|LL.|offerta}}, което беше поставило българската дума в категория "Italian terms derived from Late Latin" - правилното е {{der|bg|LL.|offerta}}.

Някои от нас сме във Discord, в канала #balto-slavic. Отделно, може да са ти интересни следните страници:

Some concerns on edits edit

Hi, I just wanted to express my concern over some edits on Chinese entries. There have been some edits where senses are removed out of process, such as in 軍令狀. Please do not remove content like that; it may look like you're tweaking a definition, but it was a little more than that. We have WT:RFVCJK and WT:RFDCJK for the purposes of definitions/entries that look "wrong". As well, please be careful with adding etymologies. For example, with 婦女, a quick search will evidently show that the word is way older than 1898. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 01:55, 11 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I feel very sorry about that. I know how to use the rfv templates. This mistake may be due to my carelessness when editing the entry. Hope I won't make any similar mistake thereafter. As to when exactly did the term 婦女 first attest meaning woman as a collective noun, I took a research made by a Chinese scholar at face value, without conducting a validation work. Once again, I apologise for my negligence. Maraschino Cherry (talk) 18:12, 11 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
One more thing to enquire: apart from WT:RFVCJK and WT:RFDCJK, am I allowed to use WT:DEROGATORY? I've noticed some ethnic slur term which I indeed have never seen the usage. Maraschino Cherry (talk) 05:28, 12 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, you can invoke WT:DEROG using {{derogatory}}. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 07:16, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
