Welcome

edit

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! --Vahag (talk) 09:33, 30 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi

edit

Please slow down, you are copying stuff without understanding and making many mistakes. --Vahag (talk) 09:35, 30 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Could you let me know what exactly those mistakes are? SayatNova8 (talk) 11:32, 30 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Here, 1) in the Old Armenian section you copied the Declension and the Derived terms from ագարակ (agarak), a different word. 2) The translation as "agriculturist" is wrong. 3) Modern Armenian ագարակաբաշխ does not exist; you copied it from Kouyoumdjian on Nayiri, which contains plenty of non-used words which do not pass WT:CFI.
Here, 1) you copied the etymology of ագարակ (agarak), which pertains to the Armenian word, not the Hurrian. 2) You put Armenian and Georgian as descendants which by no means is certain. 3) You created an entry in a language you probably know nothing about by copying the content from another Wiktionary page. That's irresponsible. If there was a mistake in the Hurrian spelling or transliteration or translation you wouldn't spot it and would spread the mistake.
Here you copied from Kouyoumdjian on Nayiri, a bad dictionary with bad translations.
At now-deleted âtar, you created a Central Kurdish entry with a Latin entry name, but that language is written in the Arabic script. --Vahag (talk) 16:38, 30 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Behdini Kurdish

edit

Behdini Kurdish is not a valid header name. Please place all {{head|ku}} entries under a ==Kurdish== header. Thanks. --{{victar|talk}} 02:38, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
