alunga
Romanian
editEtymology
editFrom a Vulgar Latin root *allongāre, from Latin longe. Other theories suggest it deriving straight from Latin elongare. Compare Italian allungare, Catalan allunyar (“move away, remove, distance onself”), French éloigner, allonger, Galician alongar (“move away”), Spanish alongar and Portuguese alongar.
Pronunciation
editVerb
edita alunga (third-person singular present alungă, past participle alungat) 1st conj.
- to banish, expel, drive away, dismiss
- Synonym: goni
