Etymology edit

From Ottoman Turkish بقله (baḳla, a single specimen or species of any succulent plant, broad bean, a link of a chain), from Arabic بَقْلة (baqla, grain of various plants), which was derived from Arabic بَقْل (baql, all kinds of herbaceous plant or vegetable),[1] combined with the suffixes -gil (denoting family) and -ler (denoting plurality) which is an eroded form of the suffixes -ın + -ki + -ler.[2]
