From Malay bibit, Borrowed from Javanese ꦧꦶꦧꦶꦠ꧀ (bibit, “seed”), ꦮꦶꦮꦶꦠ꧀ (wiwit, “beginning”), from Old Javanese wwit, wwīt, wit (“origin, beginning; base, foundation; stem, tree”).
