Dutch edit

Etymology edit

From boemerang (boomerang) +‎ -s- +‎ kind (child), a 21st century coinage that gained currency in the 2010s due to housing shortages and concomitant price hikes (which make it difficult for young adults, particularly students, to support themselves financially while living on their own). Possibly a calque of English boomerang kid.
