     We felt doubly obliged to translate this work, firstly because of its author, and secondly and especially because of its subject matter, for in doing so we enriched our Hungarian literature not only with the work of a world-famous writer, but also with the biography of Hungarian St. Elizabeth. And we considered it a dear duty to do so!
