From Proto-Albanian *psarā, from *sporeh₂, from Proto-Indo-European *sper- ‘to strew, sow’ (compare English spray, Greek σπόρος ‎(spóros) ‘seed’). The proposed relation to Germanic (Langobard) fara descendants, family, klan, remains unclear.
