From Proto-Indo-European *spor-, an o-grade of Proto-Indo-European *sper- (to strew). Cognate with σπείρω (speírō, I sow), σπέρμα (spérma, semen, sperm), and Albanian farë; see σπείρω (speírō) for more.[1]
