jó (“good”) + nap (“day”) + -ot (accusative suffix) + kíván (“to wish”) + -ok (personal suffix), literally “I wish [you] a good day.”

Usage notes edit
The most widely accepted way of greeting someone whom the speaker addresses formally in the third person. It is usually heard from about 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., but there are no hard-and-fast rules about it, and some people will use jó napot all day round.
