Borrowed from Sundanese ᮙᮦᮔᮊ᮪ (ménak, “nobility”) (compare Javanese ꦩꦺꦤꦏ꧀ (ménak, “obsolete title for a nobleman”, literally “comfortable”), Balinese ᬫᬾᬦᬓ᭄ (ménak, “pleasant person; nobility”)), from Old Javanese menak (“nobleman”). By surface analysis, meng- + enak (“delicious; comfortable, pleasant”).
