Borrowed from Turkic. Compare Bashkir айғыр (ayğır), Kashubian jedżer, Old Turkic 𐰑𐰍𐰺 (adɣïr), Serbo-Croatian ajgir/ајгир, and Ukrainian о́гир (óhyr). Displaced Old Polish świerzepic.
