From Proto-Slavic *perdъkъ. Cognate with Upper Sorbian prědk, Polish przodek, Czech předek.

- front (foremost side of something or the end that faces the direction it normally moves)
- (specifically) the front of a traditional Lower Sorbian skirt, which is protected by an apron and can therefore be made of lower-quality material
- (chiefly in the dual) breast (organs on the front of a woman’s chest, which contain the mammary glands)
