romneya (plural romneyas)

  1. (botany) Any of the genus Romneya of flowering plants of the poppy family, perennial subshrubs with woody stems and large white flowers with yellow centres.
    • 1927, William Robinson, The Garden:
      On one occasion I raised a batch of romneyas from seeds which were sown directly they were ripe, but the usual method of propagation is by root cuttings, which can be obtained at this period of the year.
