Etymology

Cognate with Ukrainian ви́бачити (výbačyty). From Polish wybaczyć, which in turn is derived from baczyć (to pay attention, to watch). Compare to Polesian выбачиты (lose from the view), which means "not to see, not to pay attention, forgive".[1]
