From ⁧س ب ع(s-b-ʕ); compare ⁧سَبْعَة(sabʕa), seven. Compare with Hebrewשבוע(šavúaʿ, week) derived from Hebrew ⁧שבע(šévaʿ, seven) and Classical Syriac ⁧ܫܒܘܥܐ(šaḇoʿā, week) derived from Classical Syriac ⁧ܫܒܥܐ(šaḇʿāʾ, seven).
