From فَرَنْسَا (faransā, France), with the first quadriliteral conjugation implying the bestowing of a particular quality. Compare أَمْرَكَ (ʔamraka, to Americanize, to make American)، أَلْمَنَ (ʔalmana, to Germanize, to make German), عَرَّبَ (ʕarraba, to Arabize, to make Arab), تَرَّكَ (tarraka, to Turkify, to make Turkish), هَوَّدَ (hawwada, to Judaize, to make Jewish).
