  1. (Indo-Persian, obsolete) Catholic priest
    • 1611, ʿAbd al-Sattār ibn Qāsim Lāhōrī, مجالس جهانگیری [Majālis-i Jahāngīrī]:
bar zabān-i mubārak raft ki pādrī! hazrat-i īsā čand murda rā zinda karda bāšad? pādrī arza dāšt kard ki zinda kardan-i si tan rā dar injīl-i mā matrah ast ammā az ba'zi-yi ibārāt-i ō mafhūm mē-šawad ki bisyār murda rā zinda karda bāšad ammā ma'lūm nēst ki čand kas rā zinda karda ast!
The blessed tongue [of the emperor] said, "Padre! How many people did honored Jesus raise from the dead?" The padre humbly responded, "It is mentioned in our Gospels that he raised three people from the dead. But from some of the statements in there, it becomes apparent that he must [really] have resurrected many [more]. But it is not known how many people he resurrected!"
