Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀡𑀺𑀢𑁆𑀣𑀭𑀤𑀺 (ṇittharadi, comes through), from Sanskrit निस्तरति (nistarati, it comes forth from, escapes), from the root निस्तॄ (nistṝ), from तॄ (tṝ), from Proto-Indo-European *terh₂- (to cross over).
