SanskritEdit

EtymologyEdit

From Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰaktás (distributed, allotted, share, portion), from Proto-Indo-European *bʰeh₂g- (to divide, distribute). Cognate with Avestan 𐬠𐬀𐬑𐬙𐬀 (baxta), Persian بخت (baxt). Synchronically analyzable as the past participle of the root भज् (bhaj, to divide, distribute).

In modern usage, this refers to people (mainly political followers) who believe anything their leader says without using their own reasoning, just based on faith alone & would defend their leader to any extent including but not limited to issuing physical threats
