Etymology

From คาย (kaai, “to spit, spew, or discharge (out of the mouth or throat)”) +‎ ตะขาบ (dtà-kàap, “centipede”); from the 1991 Thai horror novel, ทายาทอสูร (taa-yâat-à-sǔun, “heir of demon”), by Tri Aphirum (ตรี อภิรุม), in which an ancient demon, who takes the form of a centipede, possesses the body of a human and moves itself to a new host by emerging out of the mouth of the old host and flying straight into the mouth of the new one.
