Etymology edit
From สังหาริม (“movable”) + ทรัพย์ (sáp, “thing; property”); calque of English movable property.
Probably first used on 11 November 1923, when the first book of the Civil and Commercial Code of Thailand was promulgated.
Compare Khmer សង្ហារិមទ្រព្យ (sɑɑnghaarɨmtrɔɔpyɔɔ).
