From Old Georgian მზე ‎(mze), მზჱ ‎(mzē), from Proto-Kartvelian *mz₁e-. Cognate with Svan მიჟ ‎(miž), Mingrelian ბჟა ‎(bža) and Laz მჟორა ‎(mžora). Middle Armenian բոզի ‎(bozi), բուզի ‎(buzi, Sun) may be a Kartvelian borrowing.
