From Old Georgian მზჱ (mzē), მზეჲ (mzey), from Proto-Kartvelian *mz₁e-. Cognate with Svan მიჟ (miž), Mingrelian ბჟა (bža) and Laz მჟორა (mžora). Middle Armenian բոզի (bozi), բուզի (buzi, Sun) may be a Kartvelian borrowing.
