Etymology edit

First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as Middle Korean 거우〮루 (Yale: kè(G)wúlwù). The ancestral pre-Middle Korean form may have had a leniting velar in the second syllable.
