Etymology

Inherited from Prakrit 𑀓𑁂𑀭 (kera, possessive marker), grammaticalized from Sanskrit कार्य (kārya). Cognate with Assamese -অৰ (-or), Maithili केर (kēr), Odia -ର (-ra), and the -रा (-rā) in Hindi मेरा (merā), तेरा (terā), etc.
