Manen
Dutch edit
Etymology edit
First attested as parochia manen at the end of the 13th century. Etymology unknown. A derivation from made (“hayfield, meadow”) is not supported by the oldest attestations. A derivation from Middle Dutch maen (“poppy, Papaver sp.”) is equally unsupported.
