Etymology

    From *gȍspoda (dominion, property) +‎ *-ãřь. In some dialects, the word is reshaped (by folk etymology) as **gosǫdařь (whence Russian госуда́рь (gosudárʹ)) as if a derivative of Proto-Slavic *sǫdъ (judgement, verdict).
