editEquivalent to *kvapъ (“tension, charge, urge”) + *-iti, from Proto-Indo-European *kwep- (“to boil”). Akin to Lithuanian kvapi̇̀nti, kvapýti (“to scent”).

- (probably originally) to set loose, to discharge, to release (pressure, stress, tension)

- → (intransitive) to haste, to hurry
