Etymology

Derived from Proto-Indo-European *tews- (“to be still”). Akin to Sanskrit तुष्यति (tuṣyati) and तूष्णीम् (tūṣṇī́m), Proto-Germanic *þusiþaz (“silent”), Old Prussian tusnan (“still”).
