German edit

Etymology edit

Borrowed from French régisseur, which stands for bailiff or trustee in English, as well as assistant director in theater. The word is actually a false friend; in French the film director is a metteur en scène or sometimes réalisateur, but never a régisseur.

Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): [ʁeʒɪˈsøːɐ̯]
  • (file)
