Old Javanese

Hello,

Since we don't have a code for Old Javanese, we can't include it. The good news is it's easy enough to create a code! In this case, {{poz-ojv}} seems best. It would seem to me to be beneficial to discuss this on WT:Beer parlour as that's what we normally do we including languages with ad hoc codes, as opposed to ISO 639 ones. it's OK, but I think it is able to use code : kaw because in the wikipedia section, the ISO 639-3 code of Old Javanese is kaw

But in Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (Standardized Indonesian Dictionary), Kawi (as noun) is described as : (1) Bahasa Jawa Kuno (Old Javanese language), (2) Bahasa Jawa yang lazim dipakai di kesusastraan (Javanese language that is usually used in literature).

So, I think Kawi is just a term to distinguish the literary Old Javanese language from the daily one.

I would like to say hello. It looks like you have made a variety of contributions to Javanese, Old Javanese, Malay and other languages over the past couple of years!

I would like to ask if you could add a "Babel box" to your user page. The Babel box shows the languages you speak, how fluent you are, and which writing systems you know. Based on your introduction, I have created a sample as follows:

{{Babel|jv|ms|id-4|en-3|fr-2|es-2|la-1|el-1|cmn-1|tl-1|Latn}}

This is a template. You can copy and paste it to your user page. In the code,

• "jv" means "native speaker of Javanese"
• "ms" means "native speaker of Malay"
• "id-4" means "near native speaker of Indonesian"
• "en-3" means "advanced level of English"
• "Latn" means "native user of the Latin alphabet"

and so on. You can find the languages at WT:Babel.

Unfortunately, we are missing the wording for Indonesian, level four. It should say in Indonesian, "This user speaks Indonesian at a near-native level." Would you be able to translate that?

Also, I was wondering if you think we should have a Babel listing for Old Javanese. If it's not possible to translate it, we could still write it in English.

Recently, I started a project for languages that are not common on the Internet. I do not know if that applies to any of the languages you speak, but the project is at WT:LDL. I welcome any suggestions or questions about the project.

Thank you for the kind response and for putting up your Babel box. It looks really nice and your user page looks much improved, too. (I also wish I had a job that supported doing things on Wiktionary!) One small issue with your Babel box is that you have English listed twice.

If you want to add your other languages, the codes are:

• French = fr
• Italian = it
• Spanish = es
• Latin = la
• Greek = el
• Mandarin = cmn
• Tagalog = tl

Also, if you want to find other people working on Javanese, you can go to Category:User_jv. And you can replace "jv" with "ms" to find Malay speakers, etc. If you have any questions, you can ask here or on my talk page. Help

Hi, could you help me please translate an Indonesian word? It's bobato, it seems to be historically related to the Sultanate Ternate, but I am not sure whether it's limited to that context. Quenya

Please don't add very many more Quenya words; unlike natural languages, Quenya is copyrighted as a substantial element of a creative work (Tolkien's books).
