Welcome Message edit

Welcome!

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy documenting how Wiktionary pages should be formatted. All entries should conform to this standard. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing page for a similar word, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Our Criteria for inclusion (CFI) define exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary, though it may be a bit technical and longwinded. The most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • The FAQ aims to answer most of your remaining questions, and there are several help pages that you can browse for more information.
  • A glossary of our technical jargon, and some hints for dealing with the more common communication issues.
  • If you have anything to ask about or suggest, we have several discussion rooms. Feel free to ask any other editors in person if you have any problems or question, by posting a message on their talk page.

You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage. This shows which languages you know, so other editors know which languages you'll be working on, and what they can ask you for help with.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! If you have any questions, bring them to the Wiktionary:Information desk, or ask me on my talk page. If you do so, please sign your posts with four tildes: ~~~~ which automatically produces your username and the current date and time.

Again, welcome! --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 02:02, 4 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

Hi! Nice to see some entries for a Northeast Indian/Nepal language. We could make a MOD:lif-translit to automatically transliterate Limbu (we already do this for Lepcha, a related language). btw, are you a native Limbu speaker? —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 01:59, 23 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello Aryamanarora, Thank you for your suggestion to add MOD:lif-translit to automatically transliterate Limbu. I am willing and looking forward to work with you in this matter. And yes, I am a native Limbu Language speaker. Kuldip Limbu (talk) 06:31, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
MOD:lif-translit is now functioning! —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 21:19, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

ᤗᤣᤵᤔᤡ edit

Hello, is the lemma ᤗᤣᤵᤔᤡ a noun or a verb? Thank you for answering. --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 10:55, 23 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Thank you for your message. As for your concern, ᤗᤣᤵᤔᤡ is a noun not a verb. Thank you. Kuldip Limbu (talk) 06:14, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Surprise Present edit

I have a surprise for you: If you look at Gadgets of Preferences under the section "Appearances" and then check the box "Add country flags next to language headers", have a look at one of the Limbu entries you created. They should have the flag of Limbuwan next to the language header. --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 13:28, 23 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

P.S. Make sure you save the preference. --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 22:58, 23 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much again for your kind help and information. I have followed exactly as you said and it seems to work perfectly. I can see a flag beside the language header. Kuldip Limbu (talk) 06:15, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you edit

Hello! I just want to thank you for adding Limbu words on here. We are always in need of native speakers and we would love to help you increase the presence of Limbu. Just to ask, what other languages do you speak? DerekWinters (talk) 06:03, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
