abc +‎ bok, first part is the three first letters of the Norwegian alphabet, a, b and c. Last part from Old Norse bók (beech, book), from Proto-Germanic *bōks (letter), either from *bōkō (beech), from Proto-Indo-European *bʰeh₂ǵos (beech), or from Proto-Indo-European *bʰeh₂g- (to divide, distribute, allot).
