Etymology edit

From envolt, past participle of Old Catalan envoldre (corresponding to Latin involūtus, perfect passive participle of involvō, involvere), or possibly from a Vulgar Latin *involtāre, for Latin involūtāre, frequentative of involvere. First attested in the 14th century.[1] Compare Occitan envoltar, Italian involtare.
