Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish قاینامق, from Proto-Turkic *kạyïn- (to boil (intr.)).[1] Compare Old Turkic [script needed] (kaña-), [script needed] (kayın-, to boil; (for metals) to melt),[2] Kazakh қайнау (qainau), Uzbek qaynamoq, Azerbaijani qaynamaq (to boil).

  1. (intransitive) to boil, to come to the state of vaporizing
    Basınç arttıkça su daha yüksek sıcaklıkta kaynar.When pressure rises, water boils at a higher temperature.

  3. (intransitive) to become welded, knit.
  4. (intransitive) to swarm, to teem, to abound
