Hungarian edit

Etymology edit

According to the Uralic etymological database it is from Proto-Uralic *täwe. Cognates include Finnish tävy and Komi-Zyrian ты (ty).[1] However, it is of unknown origin in every other source. The New Etymological Dictionary of Hungarian says the Proto-Uralic explanation is wrong due to phonetic and morphological reasons. [2]
