  2. to lock in (somebody)
    zavřít koho do vězeníto put someone in prison
    Zavřela kluka do tmavé komory.She locked the boy in a dark room.
  3. (reflexive with se) to close up, to shut, to fold up
    Zmizeli, jako kdyby se nad nimi zavřela voda.They disappeared as though the earth had swallowed them up (literally, “... as though water had closed over them”).
