From *lan, from Proto-Albanian *ladna, from Proto-Indo-European *lh̥₁d-ne/o-, from *leh₁d- (to be tired); cf. (Germanic) Gothic 𐌻𐌴𐍄𐌰𐌽 (lētan, to let) (English let (id)) and (Baltic) Latvian laist (to let), ļaut (id), Lithuanian leisti (id).[1][2]
