Shortened by crasis from the classical Platonic philosophical phrase καλός καί ἀγαθός (kalós kaí agathós, beautiful and good), formed from καλός (kalós, beautiful) +‎ καί (kaí, and) +‎ ἀγαθός (agathós, good).
